My Hubby's Note

Back in early 80’s, most kelantanese went to KL by using bus instead of other means. That time, names of Sri Nilam Express, SKMK, Bumi Express and Budaya express were well known among them. I myself frequently ride budaya express to and fro KL-KB. that time budaya express provided passengers with blanket, small pillow (i remember in blue colour) and a wet tissue. those days, travelling KL-KB must use a route through Kuala Terengganu which departed by 8.00pm and arrive KL around 7++am with 2 times stops for break.

Another way to travel KL-KB is via air. That time we have the one and only, Malaysia airlines. I still remember looked at my dad ticket with the word IATA on the ticket cover. My 1^st time using aircraft was during somewhere when i was 6 or 7 years old. That time from subang airport to kb airport. I still remember from boarding area we have to take a bus which will bring us to our airplane. Of course nowadays no more buses is used, but you have to walk quite a distance to your exit gate especially kalu kena exit A11 or B11 yang hujung bangunan klia. That’s why my mum always asked for buggy to move, knowing she experienced a stroke before. And currently the bus is used again but only for temporary for international departure at klia due to train suspension for renovation. 2^nd time used airplane when i was in form 1. then i forgot abt the rest. But i still remember fly with pelangir air 2 times. Pelangi air used foker aircraft. My mum experience once used a small aircraft of less than 20 passengers on board in pelangi air. Pelangi air then was bought by airasia. The 1^st time i fly with airasia they used boeing 737 and operated at subang airport. That was back in 2002 (if i’m not mistaken).

Most of my route is KL-KB route. My 1^st route other than KL-KB was in 2002, it was KL-Alor star route also back in 2002. I still remember fare for KL-KB that time was RM130++ (for nite cruise). then it increased to RM170++, then RM200++ then to RM300++. But thanks to technology of internet which then reduce the fare rate for those who bought early (really -really early), as well as the emerged of competitor , airasia keep the fare low, but buying at last minute still need to pay at high fare. I have a lot more experience then, but can’t remember all.

But what driven me to write this nostalgia things was in regards to the first time i brought my daughters traveling via air flight.

1^st and 2^nd times – go back KB (return KL-KB) via airasia for raya haji in 2008

3^rd time – go back KB (one way KL-KB) qilah, tirah,ibu and pak teh on board. Myself drove a car to kampung

4^th and 5^th times - go back KB (return SZB-KB) with firefly. Our 1^st time with firefly which a small air crafts of ATR-72. I still remember it was really a long journey of 1hr 5 min and what we really can’t forget during back to KL, the wheatear really bad which slightly before board the air craft, the wind start blowing hard as like as we at the beach. The craft is shaky from the beginning until arrive subang. Really scared. We had to buckle our belt until landing and no F&B was served. Aqilah vomited in the flight due to this bad condition and thanks to the cabin crew for gave us hand and she the only passenger yang dpt muffin.

6^th – 7t^th times - go back KB (return KL-KB) for raya aidilftri in 2009 with MAS. We departed on 1^st flight on raya morning at 10.30 am

8^th – 9^th times - go back KB (return KL-KB) with MAS for raya haji in 2009

10^th – 11^th times – to Kuching (return KL-KCH) airasia in 2010

12^th – 13^th times - go back KB (return KL-KB) with airasia for 2010

14^th – 15^th times - to Sibu (return KL-SIBU) in 2010. Involved ibu,aqilah and tirah only. I used to board with MAS

16^th times – to KL (one way KBR-KL) in 2010. Aqilah and baba only via firefly. Actually atok and nenek asked to bring her to kampung to undergo iqra’ class. So she had to stay over there for 3 weeks. On 25^th December 2010, my wife’s family had planned for family day. So don’t want to ruin the program i go backed to KB on 24^th December (to bring aqilah home) took last flight MAS and arrive KB at 12midnite and straight away backed to KL on the very next day at 7am had boarding to KL. Unfortunately the event was canceled.
